I was given a bag of old kid’s footballs and asked if I could upcycle them.
For this style I cut a slot in the ball so I could remove the rubber inner ball and insert a zip. I have kept the round ball shape for this one. I added a couple of rivet D rings so I could attach a cross-body strap. It's raw football on the inside - including the valve.
I wouldn't use to carry heavy items because I don't know how strong footballs are and I wouldn't want the D ring to tear the ball.
And as you can see, the ball had been well loved - there was a tear (which I have glued back in place) and scuffs. I added a long adjustable red webbing strap.
Yes, it is not a beautifully sewn leather bag, like my others ….but it would be a fun gift for a football lover. I have priced it just to cover the cost of my materials.
